Inn Tour

Helpful Guest Information

Welcome to The Contadora Island Inn…
a tropical island bed and breakfast. Our desire is for your stay to be as relaxing and pleasurable as possible. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to further enhance your island experience. Please take a few minutes to review the following information which we hope will be helpful to you during your stay.

Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in time is 2:30 p.m.  Check out is at 12 noon.  There is no need to be concerned about these times adversely impacting your vacation, however. If you arrive on the morning flight and your room is not yet ready from the previous guest, we will gladly take your luggage to the inn, and find you a place to change into your vacation clothes.  You will find your bags in your room when you return from your morning activities. If you are scheduled to depart the island on the afternoon flight, you can leave your luggage in the inn after checkout and we will deliver it to the airport for you.  If you are coming directly from the beach to the airport, there is a shower at the pool of the Hotel Punta Galeon, directly across from the airport.

Smoking
We are happy to accommodate smokers and non-smokers alike.  Our desire is to acknowledge differences, while allowing them to exist together in harmony.  Therefore, the inside of our homes are non-smoking environments. Feel free to smoke on any of our four spacious deck areas.  Patio furniture and ash trays are provided.

Money
There are no banks or ATM’s on the island.  At the Contadora Island Inn, we accept cash, VISA and MasterCard.  A few of the restaurants on the island also accept credit cards.  We want you to be able to enjoy all the activities our tropical island has to offer, so please bring enough cash to cover your expenses.

Breakfast  Service is 8:00 to 10:00 A.M.
Room rates include a delicious Panamanian breakfast with fresh brewed Panamanian coffee, tea, juice, local fruit, and a daily variety of either eggs, pancakes, French toast, or gallo pinto. You are welcome to enjoy your breakfast on your private balcony.  We request that you return your dishes to the kitchen when you are finished.  (In lieu of breakfast, “Whole House” rentals include full access to the kitchen so that guests may prepare all their own meals.)

Kitchen Facilities
Room rental guests may store their drinks in the refrigerator and may use the microwave.  All other appliances are reserved for the housekeeper’s use in order to ensure the best possible breakfast experience for all.  Please always leave the kitchen clean and tidy. Use the filtered water to refill ice trays.  And please refill the filter so it will be ready for coffee and tea in the morning.

Water and Laundry
We have hot and cold running water! Water is a limited and very expensive commodity here on the island – especially during dry season. Therefore, any attempts to conserve are greatly appreciated by everyone on the island.

Your towels are changed daily; linens every three days.

Because water is a limited resource on the island a few months during the year, there are times when we must reserve water for kitchen, room linens and showers. During this time we regret that we will be unable to do personal laundry and we ask that you conserve water as much as possible at this time. We will let you know when you check in when this is the case.

Air Conditioning
Rooms are individually cooled by ceiling fans and air conditioners (with remote controls). These highly efficient units will cool your room quickly. We want you to be comfortable, but in the interest of conservation please remember to turn off the fan and air conditioner when you leave your room and only use them when necessary.  Close windows and doors when using the air conditioners.

Telephone and Internet
In Case You Need to Contact Us While on the Island:
Melinda’s cell – 6699-4614

The B & B phone number is (507) 250-4164.  The house phone will reach other land lines on the island.  You will need a local calling card (available in the island stores) to reach cell phones. You will need a long-distance card (such as Clarocom) to reach an international number or elsewhere in Panama.  You can also use these cards in the public telephones which are located near the airport and the health clinic. You may receive calls on this phone up until 9.00 pm. The ringer will be switched off at that time to avoid disturbing other guests. Please be considerate of other guests and the phone needs of the Contadora Island Inn when talking on the phone, speak privately and limit the time of your call to necessities.

Free wireless internet service for your laptop is available at our B & B.

Entertainment Center
A television, DVD player, and stereo are available for your enjoyment. Their use is available up until 9.30 pm at the latest. Please be considerate of your fellow guests.  If you wish to use these, especially during the day, please check with other guests first. If you would like to borrow one of our DVD’s, please ask the Innkeeper.

Book and Magazine Exchange
Choose from a variety of books and magazines in the upper shelf of our library cabinet, then please leave one in its place for the next reader to enjoy.  Feel free to enjoy the books on the lower shelf, but we ask that you leave these in the inn when you depart.

Rest & Relaxation
People staying at our B & B are often here for R & R. Please help maintain this ambiance and our “home away from home” environment. For this reason, our inn is not well-suited for young children. Families with young children would be better served by one of the larger beach-side hotels (such as the Hotel Galeon), which has facilities specifically designed for children.
Let us know if anything needs our attention in order to ensure the tranquil atmosphere.

Sun Protection
The sun in the tropics can be very strong and some people get sunburnt in a very short time.  Protect yourself so you can enjoy all of your vacation.  Sun protection items are available in the stores on the island.  Better safe than sorry.  If you do get sunburnt we have aloe plants to ease the pain and nourish your skin.

Island Life
You are choosing to come to a gorgeous remote tropical island only accessible by air and boat with mainly travelers, islanders and a few foreigners on it.  We do our very best to make sure we have hot water, but there are times when the system does not operate optimally.  We keep electric and plumbing supplies on hand, though we may not have exactly what we need for a given project.  This could mean that we may have to wait a day or so for the part to arrive or for a more qualified repair person.  We request that you let us know if anything is not working and we will do our best to remedy it, although we cannot guarantee immediacy under the circumstances.   You will always get courteous service, hospitable accommodations and tasty food because we have more control of that.  And of course, we always welcome input from our mechanically inclined guests.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We look forward to seeing you again.
